Cindy is an internationally experienced lawyer whose practice is focused on business/corporate immigration, citizenship law and related matters.
Cindy assists employers bringing executives, senior managers and skilled workers into Canada from around the world. She provides strategic immigration counsel to address the visa and work authorization needs of clients ranging from large multinational corporations to start-up companies. Cindy advises clients on business visitor and other work permit exemptions, helps clients to obtain temporary work permits under NAFTA and other International Free Trade Agreements, as well as Canada’s International Mobility Program. Cindy works with clients to secure positive Labour Market Impact Assessments and to transition foreign workers to permanent residents through Express Entry and Provincial Nominee Programs.
Cindy’s immigration law expertise enables her to assist corporate clients in maintaining compliance with Canadian immigration laws, including responding to immigration audits, and to address the immigration implications of mergers and acquisitions and other corporate transactions. She also assists clients in overcoming criminal and medical inadmissibility issues through applications for temporary resident permits and criminal rehabilitation.
Cindy speaks regularly on business immigration issues. Her clientele includes entrepreneurs and businesses in information technology, digital entertainment, clean tech, and life sciences industries; natural resources, energy and mining; as well as retailers, restaurants and luxury hotel chains. She is an Executive Officer of CBABC’s Immigration Law Section and a Director of the People’s Law School.
Prior to joining MKS, Cindy practiced at the Vancouver office of an international law firm and also was an Assistant Corporation Counsel with New York City Law Department. Cindy is admitted to practice law in British Columbia and New York.
